Knight Web Design was contacted by the family who own The Shoulder of Mutton as they wished to produce a new, cost effective website as their old one wasn’t quite giving them what they needed for this very unique business.

The Shoulder of Mutton offers two services, a well established antiques business coupled with a very smart tea room / eatery.  So, as a venue set in fantastic grounds, they are a good draw to both the local community and antique hunters alike.

Project Details

After meeting with the owners we looked at SEO implications for changing parts of the site such as dropping the cumbersome online shop as it didn’t sell much.  This was a big change for them as their items can often sell quickly from the physical premises so we have removed the need for constant stock updates.  The owners felt this could be managed better via Instagram as it’s quicker to update.

In addition, once the antiques part of the business was simplified the owners requested an easy to update menu system to give more information to people when viewing their venue online for food.

Lastly, we also looked at the visuals and how both parts of the business can be contacted via their new WordPress website.  This means enquiries are tailored to each separate part of the business.

The Delivery

This project was delivered quickly leaving us with extra time for testing and adjustment.

The customer is very happy knowing they have gained a robust website which will see them into the future.  It can adapt and it is already seeing good traffic.

Our Client's Thoughts

‘We wanted to just change our website and to bring it closer to what we had as a vision for the two business areas.

Knight Web Design came and met us in Essex, talked through things a number of times and showed us the progress at a range of key stages.

This enabled us to see what was happening and to feel involved and a part of the project.

Everything was explained and their experience shone through leaving us with a safe and secure website for the future.
